So today, Wilson and Mom helped lead worship at a small Presbyterian church in town that our church planted. It was a sight to see Wilson on an electric blue drum set playing a steady beat to Hark the Harold. Classic. Just what every church of 50 members wants, a 12 year old playing a drum set in their sanctuary.
Laura and I after church and lunch went shopping allllll over Greenville purposefully trying to take our sweet time. Mom planned a caroling trip for this afternoon. We were going to "try" to make it back home before she left at 3:45. Mom calls us at 3:35, threatens our lives if we don't come home to carol. Then, Laura Coleman pitches a temper tantrum like a 2 year old. Stomping up stairs, slamming doors, screaming, the works-- she could have won an oscar with the performance. Next thing you know, all of the Nickles, are in the car on the way to carol with some other families from the church mom had arranged. Mom lectured all of us about how these elderly people from our church can't even make it to church anymore because their situations and it's important for us to bring joy to them just for a little while-- she told us all that " YOU'RE GOING TO BE HAPPY and YOU'RE GOING TO SING ABOUT JOY." It really was a great gesture-- but she could have just not taken us. She got names from the church of elderly that were sick, had lost spouses or couldn't drive anymore. We gave them a tray of cookies after we were done serenading them.
So, the three of us stand in the very back of the crowd at every house...Here's mom trying to pull Wilson to the front of the crowd to sing and him refusing to go... we are waiting for the first people to answer their door.
So, when they come to the door we sing Silent Night. Since Wilson, Laura and I were the oldest kids there by at least 8 years... most of them couldn't read yet. And here's the three of us looking awkward because we grew out of the cute and precious phase a long time ago. Since we know none of the adults are paying attention to us in the back, Wilson polishes up the art of performing and harmonizing. ( I apologize for the shakes in these videos. I was laughing uncontrollably the whole time. ) If you listen closely, you can hear Wilson's angelic voice.
This next video is Jingle Bells. Wilson in this one, pulls out a few dance moves. But, we do get in trouble. My favorite part of this video is when the three year old in front of us says.. "why are we singing outside". I was wondering the exact same thing.
Here are some photos of me being very responsible and a great babysitter. Just kidding, I really am responsible and trust worthy but this week has just been... funny.
Here's sweet Hayes. He's 2. While I was coloring with his sister, he found a ball point pen and colored on... himself.
And, here's one of my 18 cousins, Margaret. She is also 2. She spilt an entire plate of macaroni and cheese on... herself. She's getting ready for the bath-- so sweet.
Well, that's it. I realllly miss 3G!! Stay tuned for more updates from the homes of 3G members from North Carolina to Georgia!
Wishing we were still precious and cute, the Nickles Christmas Card.
